Application Factors
Application Factors: Health Information Management (HIM) Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS)
Typically, there are more applicants to the BAS program than there are available positions. Therefore, students are not guaranteed admission based on their completed application alone. Candidates will be considered based on several factors, including:
- Advanced healthcare credentials (such as RHIT, CCS, RN, CPC, RRT, etc.)
- Coursework completed in college-level STEM classes
- College-level GPA
- Military status
- Coursework completed in leadership/management/human relations and communications
- Work or volunteer experience in health care.

As you prepare for potential acceptance into the HIM BAS program, we encourage you to plan for funding of your degree. Make sure you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov . Our school code is 003796. It is very important to complete your FAFSAs using accurate information.

Accreditation
The Health Information Management accreditor of Tacoma Community College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM).
The College's accreditation for the Baccalaureate degree in Health Information Management has been reaffirmed through 2027.
